Hello there!
It’s Landon with the Royal Jelly Bee Company! Time has really flown by since the last blog update, still trying to get more regular at that, and a ton of fun stuff has been in the works!
After the February freezes came to a finish, we’d gotten knocked back a bit, but it wasn’t an abnormal amount of loss, and I’m happy to saw we bounced back quite quickly within our first sets of splits!
Since then, we’ve been working with many new clients to plan and are in the process of getting approximately 40 new colonies set up! In our existing yards, we’ve been at 50 strong since populating from winter loss, and it’s looking very promising that we’ll be hitting and surpassing our goal of 100 colonies managed within the hive management service!
Business-wise, a lot has been going on too! Royal Jelly Bee Company has been getting involved with the City of Austin Economic Development Dept’s Circular Economy Meetups, and to incorporate more sustainable practices into our business model, and to work with others doing the same to help grow our local Circular Economy. I’m extremely happy to be networking with the people and businesses at these meetups, and look forward to where things are going!
I may have mentioned this in a past post, but we were profitable in 2020! Which was my first year operating the business full time. Definitely couldn’t have done it without a ton of support, and am blessed to have so many amazing opportunities so far. That said, into 2021 we’ve quickly surpassed 2020 net sales within mid q1, and within the past 2 weeks have tripled that unit, and are working towards quadrupling it! (That’s a lot of bees!)
Personally, and business-wise, I’m extremely thankful to be working with all my amazing clients and to be able to work bees on their properties, help them save money on AG, pollinate their gardens, and boost native life. It’s an awesome feeling getting to go out and work while being able to stop and smell the flowers, enjoying time with bees, and working with nature!
A lot of things are in flux right now! Feel free to contact me via Fb messenger, email, text, phone – if you don’t catch me feel free to ping me via multiple methods (I do my best to follow up, but sometimes my attention span is quite short these days ;)!)
Thank y’all! <3
