Hey there,
This is Landon with Royal Jelly Bee Co.!
Spring is finally almost here, the arctic blast has passed and things are finally picking back up! I’ve been making rounds the past 2 weeks and checking on all of our colonies, accessing losses from the weather, and setting up our colonies for success early this season with supplemental feeding to boost the production of young bees!
With our 2021 beekeeping seasoning picking up I want to touch base and share more about what’s going on and our plans moving forward! Last year was quite the year to take a deep dive into building a small business, and I’m super happy to still be here pursuing my dream and working with all of you to make that happen.
This year we’re focusing on building up all and expanding our number of colonies, bee yards, and breeding infrastructure to take our queen rearing and colony production to the next level, allowing us to take on more clients, set up new yards, help more local beekeepers and members of our local communities!
We’re looking for people who want bees set up on their properties in the Greater-Austin and Central Texas areas. This could be people with land who want to support and enable bees and pollination near them, landowners looking to qualify for AG valuation, or small to large farmers who want to boost crop pollination. We generally specialize in rural beekeeping, but for Austin-residence only we can work on urban beekeeping projects complying with local ordinance.
Past that we hope to develop more products from byproducts of healthy happy hives, ranging from consumables, candles, beauty, and other specialty product offerings throughout the year. Generally, these will be seasonal, but as we expand more regular offerings will be made available! Stay tuned on social media for limited product announcements, or if there’s a project or recommendation you’d like us to take on we’re happy to accommodate special orders. (Candles, specific recipes, personal honey sales, etc)
A really big thanks to our existing, new, and soon-to-be clients for all the support and fun experiences this past year on your properties! I hope that we continue to all learn, grow, and improve into 2021 and beyond.
I’d also love to help and support you all in your endeavors too, from your small farms, businesses, and or personal homesteading projects; so let’s network and build each other up even more! I’m more than willing to offer technical support, marketing strategy, product/business ideas, and development with any of my clients, if it’s something you’re interested in just reach out and we can set up a meeting!
A big goal for myself and Royal Jelly Bee Co. into 2021 is expanding our communication, content creation, and overall networking. It’s quite easy, for me at least, to get a bit overwhelmed once I’m all suited up (especially in the heat of summer), but with a bit more planning ~ I hope to improve outreach in social media presence this year from blogging, to outreach, to not zipping my phone up inside the bee suit before I open a hive, etc. But further than that I want to get more invested in our local communities and hopefully have a bigger positive impact.
So 2021 might include a few rambly blog posts, or I might start using it a bit more like an open journal about the projects we’re working on, towards potential goals, and or failures – but practice makes perfect! I’d love to hear feedback from y’all and can’t wait to see how 2021 shapes up (and if I become a better blogger?)!
Thanks for reading,
Landon
